Jill Reynolds

As a girl, I loved coloring books, paint by number and anything that involved creativity and color.  Arts and crafts, needlework, making potholders and stitching pillowcases were just some of the things I spent my time at.   My Mother was very artistic and painted with oils for a long time.  As an adult, I wanted to try my hand at painting on canvas too.  I took one night class through the local college.  I needed to know what materials were needed and how to get started.  I selected water soluble oils to start and now I use regular oils.  My very first painting that I started in class and finished at home is the painting shown in my collection of the Copper tea pot pouring water into a basin surrounded by rocks.  I'd found a picture in a magazine that I liked and took it to class for my first try.  The teacher though I'd bit off more then I could chew...lol.  The painting took weeks and weeks to finish.  However, in the end, I was encouraged and excited about my new skill.     Since then, nearly 14 years ago now, I have painted dozens of paintings.  In an effort to find my Niche, I have done some realism, some abstract, impressionism and more.  Sometimes I use only my pallet knife because  I love the texture and building of the paint.  Some of the things I have done I would not put in my basement if I had one but others have inspired me to try new things and build on new skills.     I am mostly inspired by nature and love sunrises and sunsets and the trees and thus I paint landscapes and light and the sky but I have not limited myself to those things.  I have done some very specific work for individuals such as pets,  photographs of special places, and I welcome the challenge of new things. The paintings in my collection of the "A Fish in the Hand" and the Pointer " Remembering Willie"  are examples of commission work.  I am most rewarded when a painting that I have loved doing, is then loved by someone else just as much.  The seemingly abstract painting that leads your eye into a dark area toward the middle is my "View from my Stand".  It is one example of something I did for me that I loved and others have requested prints of it since.     I am fortunate that I have a small business that allows me to use any spare time to work on my artwork.  You can see my works in progress at my business, Hamilton Outdoor Supply at 9097 US Hwy 27 E, Hamilton, GA.

I also have a space in Pine Mountain, GA at Chipley and Main.  My artwork also includes, glass painting and hand etching both small and large pieces.  You may contact me through my facebook page under Jill Reynolds, or Hamilton Outdoor Supply or see me at my store.
