Susan Dolan

Susan Dolan hails from the Midwest and has studied art since high school and college.  She received a scholarship to attend the Art Institute of Chicago and earned her BFA from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  She studied both Graphic Design and Studio Painting and travelled overseas to Florence, Italy as a student.

As a military wife, she lived all around the world, allowing her to explore other art media and styles.  In 2001, she moved to Columbus, Georgia.  Further travels have taken her to England, France, Croatia, Korea, and, most recently, Greece.  Needless to say, her travels have been a huge source of inspiration.  Susan lives in Piedmont Lake of Pine Mountain, GA where she is enjoying her lake home.

Susan works primarily in oils as well as oil pastel and watercolor.  She has been exhibited in several galleries and shows across the South.  She has earned ribbons at the Georgia National Fair and has work selected for the Winners Circle at the Albany Arts Show in Albany, GA.  She has also been a Featured Artist at the Hapeville Art Crawl in Hapeville, GA.  She has had work at the Columbus Museum in several events there.  Susan also does figure drawing and has had work in the “Go Figure” and the “Beyond Go Figure” shows at the Bo Bartlett Center at Columbus State University. Her work is on view at Two Sisters Gallery and Gallery on 10th in Columbus and HRH Antiques and Design in Pine Mountain.  She is also a participant in the Physique Art Show sponsored by the Columbus Collective.  Susan is a member of the prestigious National League of American Pen Women.

Retired from 25 years as a picture framer, Susan enjoys painting in Plein Air with wonderful images of the Chattahoochee Valley.  She also attends workshops in watercolor as well as Plein Air.  She travels to visit her three adult children and enjoys her three adorable granddaughters!   Her motto: “Much to do!”
